What is BOTOX® and Dysport®?
BOTOX® is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A used in aesthetic treatments to temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. By reducing repetitive muscle contractions, BOTOX® helps soften dynamic wrinkles such as forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet, creating a smoother and more refreshed appearance while maintaining natural facial expressions. Dysport® is also a botulinum toxin type A injectable designed to relax overactive facial muscles that cause wrinkles. It works similarly to BOTOX® but has a different formulation and diffusion pattern, allowing it to spread slightly more within the treated area. Dysport® is commonly used for forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and facial contouring treatments.
How Do BOTOX® and Dysport® Work?
Both treatments work by temporarily blocking nerve signals that tell specific muscles to contract. When these muscles relax, the skin above them becomes smoother, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and preventing deeper lines from forming over time. Results typically begin to appear within a few days, with full effects developing in approximately 1–2 weeks. Results are temporary and usually last around 3–4 months, depending on the treatment area, dosage, and individual metabolism.
